Joseph Gatt serves as the Mayor of Mosta, the town where he was born on 25 November 1977, raised, and proudly lived his entire life. His roots in Mosta shape his values and guide his deep commitment to serving the community with integrity and dedication.

 

He is the father of Maya (21) and Mattias (16), and shares his life with his partner and wife-to-be, Joan Galleposo Bagarinao, along with her children Wyatt (17) and Zuki (14). Their blended family inspires his mission to build a safe, inclusive, and opportunity-filled Mosta for families of all backgrounds.

 

Alongside his mayoral duties, Joseph works full-time with the Water Services Corporation within the Technical Support Offices. His professional experience has strengthened his belief in efficient service, collaboration, and practical problem-solving—qualities he considers essential for leading a modern, growing locality.

 

Public service is part of his family’s legacy. His father, Lawrence “Perit” Gatt, served as a Member of Parliament with the Partit Nazzjonalista from 1971 to 1996. His father’s dedication to Malta and its people helped shape Joseph’s values of responsibility, transparency, and commitment to the community.

 

Joseph began his political journey in 2019 when he was elected as a councillor for the Mosta Local Council. In 2024, he was entrusted by residents with the role of Mayor, a position he carries with gratitude, pride, and unwavering responsibility.

His priorities include:
